Update on Dad

Thank everyone so much for the nice comments. They did finally get my Dad in a room around 3:30, my mom and I were there when he got up there, he was not happy when they moved him from the gurney to the bed, after major surgery who would be???.... My mom and I were standing there w/ him and he told us he felt like he was in a sponge, let's face it he was still heavily medicated, so my mom and I just looked at him and laughed and then said 'what does it feel like to be in a sponge?', he said I don't know...we both thought this was some funky feeling he was having from the drugs..turns out about 15 minutes later he said the bed felt like a sponge...."oh" we laughed. The infectious disease Dr came in yesterday and told him by no means will he be coming home today, so I guess the infection was that bad, they inserted his pic line this morning, I was dropping off coffee and they asked me to wait 15 minutes, so I just yelled through the curtain that I was going to work and I'd see him later.... I spoke w/ him on the phone and the pic line is in, it didn't hurt, it goes up through the arm in next to the heart...sounds like it hurts....but then again I have a very LOW tolerance for pain. One good thing about adoption, my labor was 4 15 hour plane flights, which could be pretty painful, but I didn't need an epidural....

So he is doing okay so far, just in pain, and really really wants out of his bed, but the nurses don't seem to know anything, the one he had last night was a 'traveling' nurse that roams from hospital to hospital, the nurse he has this morning doesn't usually work on that floor, so last I spoke to him he was really wanting out of the bed, and no one had Dr's orders to see if he could get up. My mom was on her way there so I am sure he will be taken care of.

The worst part of all this, the original Dr told him "he'd just have to live with this"...it's sounding to me like there wouldn't have been much more living, if he continued on the infectious path he was on.

Hi Lori, Praying for your dad to get better! I am so far behind in my reading of blogs but did get to yours and got myself all caught up with what's going on with you. Still no news yet, I'll let you know when I do hear something. Have a great day, Trish
